Roeburn’s Andreas Moet
We are proud to offer “Moet” to a national audience. We have been a fan of her dam Mila since she was a young doe and we are proud to now own Mila and four of other daughters. Learn more about Moet and her relatives and our relationship with her breeder at Roeburn Alpines below.
Let me tell you a story about an incredible dairy goat breeder.
I was 8 years old, showing my first Alpine doe kid with all the excitement and energy of a totally novice 8 year old with her caprine best friend. My 4-H leaders were wise enough to encourage me to show at the Southern Vermont Dairy Goats association ADGA show. Like the typical over enthusiastic goat show kid I explored the fairgrounds looking for other alpines and found one herd of the most beautiful goats I've ever seen.
Despite being painfully shy, I asked Cathy about her goats and she kindly questioned me about mine. I proudly recited that my does were sired by "Roeburn's RQ Thorsten" and she replies "Thorsten, I remember him, I bred him". I was in awe that I was having a conversation with someone who in my mind was a goat celebrity. Through years of showing at Southern Vermont, I always stood behind Cathy's animals and aspired to move up the line - and sometimes I did when I was honored to be asked to show a goat for her :)
Not only did was she kind at shows but Cathy was consistently supportive of me as a youth with small, backyard 4-H breeding program in suburban Connecticut. She treated me like an adult, like I was important and made me feel that I added value to the goat community as a breeder even when I was unknown in the goat world. Cathy leased me several outstanding bucks as a youth and in my now adult life I have returned to Cathy's herd to purchase animals over the years that have been influential in my program. I jumped with joy at the opportunity to purchase a large number of adult does from Cathy's outstanding, proven program when she decided to reduce her herd size.
Cathy's kindness to me and dedication to breeding consistent, productive, correct french Alpine does has been an inspiration and is a legacy that I hope to pass on to future generations. I am honored to consign a Roeburn doe kid born on my farm this spring, after a planned purchase of 9 does and 2 bucks last fall. I proudly own and manage Roeburn's Andreas Moet, her dam GCH Roeburn's KVLS Mila 11*M and her sire *B Kara-Kahl Andreas.
Moet is loved deeply here on our farm and by anyone who meets her for her outstanding, sweet personality but her pedigree is packed with proven success in shows, appraisal and milk test. Moet sports her own successful show record including 4th place senior kid at the 2022 ADGA National Show and restricted leg pending with winning a junior champion along with reserve junior champion rosette.
Roeburn’s KVZ Layla 13*M - Milly grand daughter - maternal niece of Moet
